There is a strange dichotomy in the Chicago punk and hardcore scene between homophobia and outright queer positivity. In some scenes, venues, and bands, negative speech is almost encouraged. Conversely, there seems to be a growing range of queer-positive (queer meaning non-heteronormative community) bands and venues.

Through imagery, video, and interview, we wish to expose this changing community. Focusing on the punk, hardcore, and DIY scene, and using the connections made through the extremely open community that encompasses it, we hope to enlighten everyone, and cause a shift and acceleration in the adoption of this positive principal, as well as educate those who may not know that these communities are indeed very positive and accepting.

How you can help: If you are in a queer-positive band or host a venue with a strict no-negative or no homophobia rule, we want to talk to you, take your picture, record your voice, and document the space you occupy. If you know anyone, please let them know about this project.
